E
Komo Mai
The pineapple is the symbol of hospitality. E Komo Mai is
Hawaiian for "welcome" and would make a great housewarming
gift or displayed in an entry or guest bedroom. When the
guest is no longer welcome remove the art piece. They
really used to do that with the pineapple finials on guests
beds.
This piece is etched in the scrimshaw
technique on repurposed ivory piano keys that Roger has
grouped together. He has highlighted the design with
color. A great remembrance of the diminishing pineapple
fields of Lahaina and Kapalua.
